Geology, Structure, Ground Temperature and Groundwater Level in Aquifer Taliks in the Shestakovka River Basin, Eastern Siberia

The objective of this study was to evaluate subaerial taliks’ geology, configuration, ground temperature and groundwater level in the continuous permafrost environment Central Yakutia (Eastern Siberia). included geophysical surveys, borehole drilling measurements variation a talik aquifer Shestakovka research watershed. occupies gentle, sandy slope covered by sparse pine forest. Its thickness varies from 3 17 m. has several water-conducting branches along its slope. seasonal thaw layer outside itself form single at end summer. Water-saturated deposits have about 0 °C throughout year do not freeze because constant filtration water through pores convective heat transfer. Although is relatively close land surface, depth just 1–3 m, it very weak response snowmelt precipitation events. maximum occurs February under cryogenic pressure due deep freezing above aquifer. Complicated relations between landscape given geological conditions lead long-term existence aquifers environment.
